Luiz Bonfá was a Brazilian jazz guitarist and composer, born on October 17, 1922, in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. He passed away on January 12, 2001, in Rio de Janeiro due to cancer. Bonfá recorded over 50 albums as a leader for various labels and worked extensively with producers. He wrote soundtracks for 23 movies, including notable titles such as Black Orpheus, The Gentle Rain, and Carnival of Crime. His songs have been recorded by numerous artists and sampled by others, showcasing his influence in the music industry. Bonfá was married to a singer and was associated with a publisher.
