Luiz Bonfá was a Brazilian jazz guitarist and composer, born on October 17, 1922, in Rio De Janeiro, Brazil. He passed away on January 12, 2001, in Rio De Janeiro due to cancer. Bonfá recorded over 50 albums as a leader for various labels and worked extensively with several producers. He wrote soundtracks for 23 movies, including notable titles such as Black Orpheus, The Gentle Rain, Os Cafajestes, Copacabana Palace, Carnival of Crime, Pour Un Amour Lontain, and Prisoner of Rio. His songs were recorded by numerous artists and have been sampled by many others. He was married to a singer and was associated with a publisher.
