Luv Machine, formed in the tropical climate of Barbados in 1967, relocated to the UK in late 1968 in pursuit of fame and fortune during the swinging times. The band initially played in underground black soul clubs in the Midlands, developing a sound that was harder than that of the venues in which they were booked. Influenced by artists like Hendrix, Cream, and Creedence Clearwater Revival, as well as other obscure hard rock bands, Luv Machine fused elements of rock and soulful psychedelia with a funky progressive groove, all while incorporating a unique Caribbean vibe. Their self-titled debut album, released by Polydor in 1971, has since become a highly sought-after collectible among fans of the era. Unfortunately, the band split before the album's release, resulting in a lack of publicity that it undoubtedly deserved.
