Lyle Mays (November 27, 1953 - February 10, 2020) was an American jazz pianist from Wausaukee, Wisconsin. He is best known for his collaboration with guitarist Pat Metheny, where he contributed to composition, arrangements, orchestration, and provided the complex harmonic and metric backbone that defined the group's musical signature.
