Ma Rainey was an American blues singer and songwriter, born on April 26, 1886, in Columbus, Georgia. She passed away on December 22, 1939, in Rome, Georgia. In recognition of her influential contributions to music, she was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1990 as an Early Influence.
