Maarten van der Vleuten is a Dutch producer, composer, and recording artist born in Vught, The Netherlands, in 1967. He has been active in the music industry from 1987 to 2007, during which he used over two dozen aliases to produce Detroit techno, electro, house, experimental, and ambient tracks and remixes. In early 2008, he announced that he would only use his real name or his initials, MVDV, for future releases. Throughout the 1990s, van der Vleuten mainly recorded dance and techno music for various labels, including R&S Records, Outrage Recordings, Apollo Records (Belgium), Djax-Up-Beats, See Saw, ESP, and Klang Elektronik. Since 1996, he has also been releasing music on his own label, Signum Recordings, which he founded. He also established the now-defunct sublabels Passiflora Records and Glam Records.
