Mac Demarco is a Canadian musician, singer, songwriter, and producer, born on April 30, 1990, in Duncan, British Columbia, Canada. He changed his name from Vernor Winfield McBriare Smith IV to Mac DeMarco at the age of 5, taking his mother's maiden name, Agnes DeMarco. Before signing with Captured Tracks and using his real name, he released music on Bandcamp and cassette under the alias Makeout Videotape, which also featured Alex Calder for live performances.
