Machine Girl is an American experimental electronic trio formed in 2012 by Matthew Stephenson in Long Island, New York. The project evolved when percussionist Sean Kelly joined in 2015 to play live drums. In an interview with Revolver Magazine, Matthew described Machine Girl's sound as "fucked-up electronic punk," expressing a preference against the industrial label, which he associates with a "very goth, and very black and white" aesthetic, stating that the project is "a lot more colorful." As of 2024, Lucy Caputi has joined the group as a guitarist. The current members are Matthew Stephenson (production, vocals), Sean Kelly (drums), and Lucy Caputi (guitars).
