Magazine was an English post-punk band from Manchester, active from 1977 to 1981. The band was formed by Howard Devoto and another member after Devoto left Buzzcocks in early 1977. Devoto aimed to create a more progressive and less traditional rock band. Magazine recorded three albums before guitarist John McGeoch left to join Siouxsie and the Banshees. The band released one more album before Devoto quit in 1981. Magazine reunited from 2009 to 2011, releasing one additional album, although McGeoch was not part of the reunion as he had passed away in 2004 at the age of 48.
