Major Lance was an American Soul/R&B singer and producer, born on April 4, 1939, in Winterville, Mississippi, USA. He passed away on September 3, 1994, in Decatur, Georgia, USA. As a child, he relocated to Chicago, where he was initially raised on the west side of the city before moving near the north side. While studying at Wells High School, he began boxing and attended the same school as other notable figures. His interests soon shifted towards music, leading him to form the group The Floats with Barbara Tyson. Lance also sang with various other groups throughout his career. He was a founder of his musical endeavors in 1974.
