Makiza is a Chilean hip-hop band from Santiago, formed in 1997 and active until 2006. The group consists of DJ Squat, Cenzi, Seo2, and Anita, who came together as members of the Demosapiens Crew, a Chilean hip-hop collective. The name "Makiza" is derived from the French word "maquisard," meaning 'Maqui Warrior,' with "Maqui" referring to a Chilean evergreen shrub that bears edible purple berries.
