Mal Waldon was an American jazz pianist and composer born on August 16, 1925, in New York City, NY, USA. He passed away on December 2, 2002, in Brussels, Belgium. In the late 1950s, Waldon served as the piano accompanist for a notable artist in the last two years of her life and became a mainstay in the jazz scene, credited on about 40 albums, primarily as a sideman. He participated in sessions jointly led by prominent figures, which were considered some of his most prized work. After moving to Europe in the mid-1960s, he initially settled in Munich and spent the last decade of his life in Brussels. During this time, he recorded sessions for new labels and regularly collaborated with various artists. Waldon was the father of one child and the ex-husband of another individual.
