Mal Waldron was an American jazz pianist and composer, born on August 16, 1925, in New York City, NY, USA. He passed away on December 2, 2002, in Brussels, Belgium. In the late 1950s, Waldron served as the piano accompanist for a notable artist during the last two years of her life and became a mainstay in the jazz scene, credited on approximately 40 albums, primarily as a sideman. He participated in sessions led by prominent figures, with some of these collaborations being highly regarded. After moving to Europe in the mid-1960s, he initially settled in Munich and later spent the last decade of his life in Brussels, recording sessions for emerging labels. Throughout his career, he regularly collaborated with various artists. He was the father of one child and the ex-husband of another individual.
