Malka Family is a French funk group founded in Paris in 1988 by Joseph Guigui and Laurent "Isaac" Cohen, who were previously members of the Human Spirit band. After organizing the "Chez Roger Boîte Funk" weekend club parties in 1987, they decided to create their own band. The group initially included François Bercovici (vocals), Stéphane Malca (keyboard), Anne "Elka" Possompes (vocals), Dany'O Thomasi (bass), Séb Dupouey (drums), Woody Braun (sax), Gilles Garin (trumpet), Hervé Sfez aka Xeus (keyboards), and Manu Azria (manager). Malka Family quickly became one of the most sensational stage formations of the 1990s. Their first self-produced album, "Malka On The Beach," was released in 1991, followed by extensive tours throughout France. Their concerts were known for being vibrant, often accompanied by the "(Tous à la) Discomobile" party. In 1992, they signed with Warner France for their second album, "Tous Des Oufs," a P-Funk space opera featuring various artists. After touring internationally, the band became independent again and recorded "Fricassé De Funk" with Big Cheese Records, adding new members Gilda Peter and Fabrice "Beyonder" Mbea, and later Jay "Funkmaster Jizzle" Murphy on keyboards
