Johnny Malone is a singer and songwriter who, along with saxophonist and flautist Allan Barnes, formed the group Malone & Barnes and Spontaneous Simplicity while they were students at Howard University in Washington, D.C., during the 1960s. Their collaboration produced the album "Freedom Serenade." Following the album's release, family commitments led Barnes to relocate to the West Coast, while Malone continued his career working with Carl Pope.
