Mama Cass Elliot was a renowned US singer, born on September 19, 1941, in Baltimore, Maryland. She gained fame as a member of the folk group in 1963 and later joined along with ex-member in 1964-65. In 1965, she teamed up with former members, his wife, and (who had left the Mugwumps in 1965) to form the group, adopting the nickname Mama Cass. She is credited with creating the name "The Mamas and The Papas" while watching a TV program with her bandmates during a temporary stay in the U.S. Virgin Islands.
