Mandrake Handshake is a hypnotic psych collective formed in Oxford in 2018, drawing inspiration from a diverse range of influences including krautrock, funk, Japanese animation, and Latin pastoral poetry. Their unique sound, self-dubbed ‘Flowerkraut,’ serves as a vibrant soundtrack for both wild dancing and introspective meditation, inviting listeners to explore the depths of the mind's inner worlds. The band, named after a song by The Brian Jonestown Massacre, initially collaborated with cult indie label Nice Swan for their ‘Introduces...’ series in partnership with RIP Records. They have since joined a roster that includes Opus Kink, Malady, and Anorak Patch, quickly establishing themselves as a compelling new act within the UK psychedelic scene.
