Manu Dibango was a Cameroonian saxophonist born on December 12, 1933, in Douala. He passed away on March 24, 2020, in France. Initially trained in classical piano, Dibango began his musical career in Brussels and Paris during the 1950s. In 1960, he joined African Jazz, directed by Le Grand Kalle, in Congo. He formed his own band in Cameroon in 1963 and moved to Paris in 1965. His international breakthrough came in 1972 with the hit "Soul Makossa."
