Marcello Giombini was born on July 8, 1928, in Rome, Italy, and passed away on December 12, 2003, in Assisi, Italy. He was a composer known for his work in secular music, film scores, and electronic music. Giombini gained prominence in the 1960s and 1970s for his innovative contributions to religious music, particularly in the liturgical sphere. He also composed numerous soundtracks for films, especially in the "Spaghetti western" genre, and was recognized as a pioneer of electronic music in Italy. His father was a music professor specializing in the oboe and performed in orchestras. Giombini had a son who became one of the most famous composers of Italo disco in the 1980s.
