Marcello Giombini was born on July 8, 1928, in Rome, Italy, and passed away on December 12, 2003, in Assisi, Italy. He was a composer known for his work in secular music, film music, and electronic music. Giombini gained prominence in the 1960s and 1970s as a creative force in the renewal of religious music, particularly in the liturgical area. He composed numerous soundtracks for films, especially in the "Spaghetti western" genre, and was recognized as a pioneer of electronic music in Italy. His father was a music professor who specialized in the oboe and performed in orchestras. Giombini is also the father of a son who became one of the most famous composers of "italo disco" in the 1980s.
