Marcos Resende was a talented musician who initially pursued a medical degree in Lisbon during the 1960s while nurturing his passion for music. He formed a trio that opened for jazz legend Dexter Gordon at the Cascais Jazz Festival in 1971. Following this, he created the electronic-oriented prog-jazz group Status, which performed alongside notable artists such as Elton John, Phil Woods, Stan Getz, and Art Blakey & The Jazz Messengers, although they did not produce any known recordings. Resende returned to Brazil as a respected keyboardist, composer, and innovative electronic musician, inspired by US jazz and British progressive rock. He amassed an impressive collection of keyboards, including the Prophet 5, Yamaha CP-708, and Mini Moog. Seeking to blend his newfound inspirations with Brazilian rhythms and jazz traditions, he formed a quartet with Rubão Sabino (bass), Claudio Caribé (drums), and the late Oberdan Magalhães, recording their self-titled debut at Sonoviso Studios with renowned sound engineer Toninho Barbosa. Despite receiving offers to release the album, Resende felt that record companies undervalued the effort he put into developing his sound and influences. Consequently, the album was only released in 2021 by Far Out, shortly after Resende's passing from stomach cancer on November 12, 2020, at the age of 73. In 1978, he and his band debuted on disc with the album Festa Para Um
