Mari Trini was a Spanish singer-songwriter born on July 12, 1947, in Caravaca de la Cruz, Murcia, Spain. She passed away on April 7, 2009, in Murcia, Spain, at the age of 61 due to lung cancer. A successful composer in Spanish-speaking countries, she was a leading figure in Spanish music during the 'Transition.' Discovered by a film director, she was encouraged to acculturate musically in London and lived for five years in France. Mari Trini became an author and interpreter of essential ballads in Spanish and was also remembered for her acclaimed performances in French, particularly the classic "Ne Me Quitte Pas." Throughout her career, she sold 10 million records.
