Maria Bethânia is a Brazilian singer born on June 18, 1946, in Santo Amaro da Purificação, Bahia. She began her career in Rio de Janeiro in 1964 with the show "Opinião" ("Opinion"). Her popularity surged with the release of her 1965 single "Carcará," establishing her as a star in Brazil and leading to performances across the country. To date, she has released over 30 albums.
