Maria Bethania is a Brazilian singer, born on June 18, 1946, in Santo Amaro da Purificação, Bahia. She began her career in Rio de Janeiro in 1964 with the show "Opinião" ("Opinion"). Her rise to fame was bolstered by the popularity of her 1965 single "Carcará," which established her as a star in Brazil, leading to performances across the country. To date, she has released over 30 albums. Maria Bethania is the sister of another notable figure and the aunt of another.
