Mariá Portugal is a Brazilian drummer, composer, and producer, born on May 1, 1984, in São Paulo. She has been active in the Brazilian music scene since the age of 16, recording, performing, and touring across South America, Europe, Asia, and Oceania with various artists. Among her notable projects is a Brazilian instrumental group that has performed at prestigious festivals such as Festival Jazz & The City in Salzburg, Austria (2017), Moers Festival in Germany (2018), Nijmegen Music Meeting in the Netherlands (2018), Frue Festival in Japan, and Festival Internacional de Jazz de Buenos Aires, Argentina (2019). As a composer, Mariá has created original music for dance, theatre, and cinema. She holds a degree in Composition from UNESP (São Paulo State University) and a Master's degree in Communication and Semiotics from PUC-SP (Pontifical Catholic University of São Paulo). Currently, she resides in Duisburg.
