Marihiko Hara is a sound artist and composer based in Kyoto, Japan, specializing in electronic and acoustic music for theatre, film, performance, and visual arts. At the age of 30, he has released albums with various labels including Home Normal and audiobulb (UK), Tench (US), leerraum (CH), Drone Sweet Drone (FR), Shrine, and nightcruising (JP). His album "Credo," released by Home Normal, was shortlisted for the Best of 2011 in Music For Sonic Installations by Headphone Commute. Hara's recent work includes the music for the short film 'Columbos,' directed by Kawai+Okamura, which won the Silver Dragon for Best Animated Film at the 53rd Krakow Film Festival and was screened at prestigious events such as the Locarno International Film Festival (2012), Eyeworks Festival of Experimental Animation in Chicago (2012), and the International Film Festival Rotterdam. A graduate of Kyoto University, Hara has collaborated with various artists and is a member of the group CHROMA and the pop group Rimacona. CHROMA, a project by Shiro Takatani (Dumb Type), has performed at Sonar Sound in Tokyo and the Festival de Marseille in France.
