Marina Correia Lima, born on September 17, 1955, is a Brazilian singer and songwriter renowned as a pioneer of Brazilian rock music. She spent her early years in the United States, where she learned to read in both English and Portuguese. Marina gained recognition in 1977 when popular artist Gal Costa recorded her song "Meu Doce Amor." Her debut album, "Simples Como Fogo," released in 1979, significantly influenced the Brazilian rock scene of the 1980s. Marina achieved major success with her 1984 album "Fullgás," featuring hit singles like "Fullgás," "Me Chama," "Veneno," and "Mesmo que Seja Eu." In 1986, she released "Todas Ao Vivo," the first home video concert by a Brazilian artist, which included her hits and backstage interviews. The late 80s saw her return to the top of the charts with "Uma Noite e Meia," a collaboration with her bassist Renato Rocketh. In the 1990s, Marina began to reveal a more personal side in her music. Her albums "Marina Lima" (1991) and "O Chamado" (1993) received critical acclaim and commercial success. "O Chamado" was later released in the U.S. as "A Tug On The Line," featuring English and Portuguese tracks, marking her only international release.
