Mario Nascimbene was an Italian composer and conductor born in Milan on November 28, 1913, and he passed away in Rome on January 6, 2002. He reached the height of his fame between 1945 and 1955, during which he composed several soundtracks and worked on over 150 films throughout his six-decade career. Nascimbene is recognized as one of the most widely known film soundtrack composers of the 20th century, celebrated for the innovative elements of his style, including the incorporation of new instruments and the sounds of everyday life. In his memory, the "Mario Nascimbene Award" is dedicated to young composers of film scores.
