Mark Fosson was a songwriter and guitarist from Eastern Kentucky, born on May 16, 1950. He passed away on November 2, 2018, in Catonsville, Maryland. In the late 1970s, Fosson sent song demos to a West Coast-based record label, where he caught the attention of John Fahey, who offered him a recording deal. Fosson relocated to Los Angeles to begin recording, but the label soon folded. Fortunately, Fahey allowed him to keep the master tapes, which were later released as 'The Lost Takoma Sessions' in 2006. While in California, Fosson collaborated with another songwriter, leading to the formation of the Bum Steers, a country-tinged group, in the late 1980s. They were invited to perform at the Grand Ole Opry at the request of a notable figure in the industry. Throughout the 1990s, Fosson's material appeared on several soundtracks. In 2001, he started working with singer/songwriter Lisa O'Kane, who recorded several of his songs and began her own solo project titled 'Jesus on a Greyhound.'
