Marmalade is a pop rock band from Glasgow, Scotland, originally formed in 1961 under the name The Gaylords. The band changed its name in 1963 and became known as The Marmalade in 1966, eventually shortening it to Marmalade in 1973. Renowned for their tight harmonies, they gained a long residency in London starting in March 1967. Their peak success occurred between 1968 and 1972, when they became the first Scottish act to achieve a #1 hit on the UK charts with their 1969 cover of "Ob-La-Di, Ob-La-Da." As original members began to leave in the early 1970s, the band underwent many changes. Following the departure of the last original member in September 2010, no original members remained, but Marmalade continues to tour the nostalgia circuit.
