Marry Lou Williams was an American jazz pianist, composer, and arranger, born on May 8, 1910, in Atlanta, Georgia. She passed away on May 28, 1981, in Durham, North Carolina. Throughout her career, she performed with many jazz artists and served as a staff arranger in the mid-1940s. Williams was known for her approach to the bop style and was a friend of notable figures in the jazz community.
