**Marvin Sease Biography** Born on February 16, 1946, in South Carolina, Marvin Sease was a prominent figure in the Southern soul blues genre. He began his musical journey by joining a gospel group called the Five Gospel Singers in Charleston and later sang with the Gospel Crowns. At the age of 20, he shifted his focus to R&B and formed a backing band named Sease, which included his three brothers. Despite initial setbacks, Sease released several 45s and secured a regular gig at the Casablanca nightclub in Brooklyn. In 1986, he recorded a self-titled LP featuring the hit "Ghetto Man," which led him to perform on the Southern chitlin circuit, playing in ghetto bars, juke joints, and blues festivals. His breakthrough came when he signed with Polygram, which re-released his LP in 1987, adding the explicit track "Candy Licker." This song became an underground success, particularly among female audiences, and established Sease as a smooth, X-rated ladies' man. Sease signed with Zomba Records LLC in 1993, releasing the album "Housekeeper" in 1993 and his most popular album, "Do You Need A Licker," in 1994, which reached number one on the Southern Soul Blues charts.
