Masayoshi Takanaka, born Masayoshi Liu in Tokyo, is a Chinese-Japanese guitarist who became a naturalized Japanese citizen and changed his name by the fourth grade. He began his musical career in the late 1960s as a member of the band Escape, performing at US military bases in the greater Tokyo area. Takanaka made his professional debut as a stand-in guitarist for Apryl Fool, where he notably wore his school uniform.
