Masayuki Koga is a Japanese musician renowned for his expertise in the shakuhachi. He studied the Kinko style with his father, Kiichi Koga, and the Tozan style with Kazan Sakai. In 1967, he became the youngest member of the Ensemble Nipponia, where he performed for four years. In 1973, Koga relocated to the United States and founded the Japanese Music Institute of America in 1981. He currently serves as the institute's general director and principal shakuhachi instructor.
