Mason Williams is an American guitarist, composer, lyricist, poet, photographer, and stand-up comedian, born on August 24, 1938, in Abilene, Texas. He currently resides in Eugene, Oregon. Williams is best known in music for his 1968 hit instrumental "Classical Gas." In the realm of comedy, he gained recognition for his writing contributions to television shows such as "Saturday Night Live," "The Smothers Brothers Comedy Hour," and "The Glen Campbell Goodtime Hour." Additionally, Williams has published several books.
