Massive Attack is a collaborative British music production group hailing from Bristol, England. The current lineup includes Robert Del Naja, Tricky, and Daddy G, with the original members also featuring Andrew Vowles. The group's name originates from a slogan sprayed by New York graffiti artist 'Brim' in Bristol in 1985. Brim, along with artists Balogun and Bio from the TATS CRU in NYC, created a mural at the Malcolm X Centre in St. Paul's, Bristol. Del Naja, who was known as the graffiti artist 3-D at the time, initially adopted the slogan as a name for a record label before it evolved into the band's name. During the 1991 Gulf War, the group was sometimes referred to simply as 'Massive' to ensure continued airplay amidst pressure from the British Government on radio programmers.
