Masta Ace, born Duval Clear on December 4, 1966, is a Brooklyn-based hip-hop MC recognized for his storytelling, longevity, and influence in the genre. He gained prominence in 1988 with his debut track "The Symphony" featured on 's "In Control, Vol. 1". His first solo album, Take a Look Around, was released in 1990. In 1993, he transitioned to , releasing the albums SlaughtaHouse and Sittin’ on Chrome with his group. These works showcased his versatility by blending East Coast lyricism with West Coast-influenced production. After a brief hiatus, Masta Ace returned in 2001 with the critically acclaimed concept album Disposable Arts, followed by A Long Hot Summer in 2004, both under his own label, M3 Macmil Music. He is also a member of , , and . Masta Ace has inspired numerous artists with his intricate rhymes and conceptual storytelling. He has been married to singer and radio host since 2001, and they have one daughter together.
