Matoub Lounès (January 24, 1956 – June 25, 1998) was a renowned Algerian Kabyle singer, poet, thinker, and mandole player, born in Taourirt Moussa Wamar. He was a prominent advocate for the Berber cause, human rights, and secularism in Algeria. Throughout his life, he became a symbol of resistance, courage, and dignity. Tragically, he was murdered by the GIA.
