He gained popularity during the 1960s and 1970s, charting twenty times on U.S. and UK charts between 1960 and 1973, including five top ten hits in the UK. His most notable hit came in 1964 with "Walk Away," which reached #23 in the U.S. and #4 in the UK, while also landing at #5 on the adult contemporary chart. Additionally, he achieved a #3 position in the UK in 1960 with "Portrait of My Love," which did not chart in the U.S. Matt Monro passed away on February 7, 1985, in London, England, at the age of 54.
