Maurice Duruflé was a French composer, organist, musicologist, and teacher, born on 11 January 1902 in Louviers, Haute-Normandie, France. He passed away on 16 June 1986 in Louveciennes, near Paris, France. Duruflé's Requiem was selected as the Requiem mass for Pope John Paul II.
