Maurice Moore, known by his nickname "Motown," is a soul artist who emerged from Warren, Ohio, during the 1970s to the 1990s. He played in several bands throughout his career, including Soul Dimensions and Valley Boyz, frequently performing in clubs around Youngstown, Ohio. Moore opened for many prominent funk and soul acts of his time, such as The O’Jays, Kool and the Gang, the Bar-Kays, the Dramatics, Parliament-Funkadelic, and the Delphonics. In addition to his music career, he worked as a DJ on WRBP in Youngstown from 1997 to 2008, where he hosted the “Let’s Talk Jazz and Blues” show and was inducted into the Broadcasting Hall of Fame in 2005. During the mid- to late 1970s, Moore developed close friendships with notable figures like David Ruffin, Eddie Kendricks, and Motown founder Berry Gordy, and he had his albums mastered at Gordy’s Hitsville studio in California.
