Maurice Starr, born on November 19, 1953, in DeLand, Volusia County, Florida, is an American musician, songwriter, and record producer. He is the son of Ray V. Johnson Sr. and has five brothers. Maurice was initially part of the Boston-based family band The Johnsons before adopting the name Maurice Starr. He released two albums under this name before gaining recognition as a multi-instrumentalist producer in the early 1980s, collaborating with various artists, including Michael Jonzun on multiple projects.
