Maurice White was an American R&B and funk singer, born on December 19, 1941, in Memphis, Tennessee. He passed away on February 3, 2016, in Los Angeles, California. Known to his friends as "Reese," he developed a passion for music early in life. After finishing high school, he moved to Chicago, where he worked as a session musician, primarily playing drums, in the early 1960s. In the mid to late 1960s, he collaborated with various artists before forming a band in 1969 with local Chicago singers. The band relocated to Los Angeles in 1970, where they achieved significant success. Maurice was the brother of other musicians and the road manager for his band. He struggled with Parkinson's disease since the mid-1990s and was inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame in 2010.
