Max Romeo was a Jamaican reggae singer, songwriter, and producer, born on November 22, 1944, in St. D'Acre, St. Ann, Jamaica. He founded a vocal trio around 1967 and later pursued a solo career that spanned several decades. Throughout his career, he ran various labels and achieved a UK hit in 1969. He worked extensively with producers during the late '60s, early '70s, and mid '70s, and recorded for different labels in the 1980s while living in New York. His song was sampled and used by many artists. Max Romeo passed away from heart complications in a hospital in Saint Andrew Parish, Jamaica, on April 11, 2025, at the age of 80.
