Maynard Ferguson was a Canadian jazz trumpeter and bandleader, born on May 4, 1928, in Verdun, Montreal, Canada. He passed away on August 23, 2006, in Ventura, California, USA, at the age of 78. In recognition of his contributions to music, he was awarded the Order of Canada in 2005.
