Maynard Horlick, also known as Mad Maynard Horlick, was a rockabilly artist from St. Louis, Missouri, active in the late 1950s and early 1960s music scene. He gained recognition for pantomiming Elvis on Gil Newsome's rock show on KWK-TV during the late 50s. In 1958, he formed the duo Maynie and Howie, writing and performing the song "Library Rock." His second original single, "The Strut," reached the national charts in 1961 and was featured on Dick Clark's American Bandstand. Maynard also performed at Gaslight Square with his band, Maynard and the Maniacs, before transitioning to a career as a salesman after starting a family. In the 1970s, he became a party DJ, sharing his collection of 45s. Maynard was inducted into the Rockabilly Hall of Fame, where his name appears on the "Legends List." He passed away on January 5, 2022.
