Mayssa Jallad is a Beirut-based bilingual singer-songwriter, architectural researcher, and teacher. Her work intertwines the personal and the political, exemplified by her upcoming solo album “Marjaa: The Battle of the Hotels,” which delves into the urban battles of the Lebanese Civil War through a collaborative musical and architectural approach. In 2013, Mayssa co-founded the indie-pop band Safar with guitarist Elie Abdelnour. The band released their debut album, "In Transit," in 2017 under the Lebanese indie label Ruptured, followed by the EP "Studies of an Unknown Lover" in 2019. Both projects were produced by Fadi Tabbal at Tunefork Studios in Beirut. Safar has performed at various venues in Lebanon and internationally, including Paris, Belgium, London, Dubai, New York, Durham, and Boston, gaining a strong following due to Mayssa's emotional vocal delivery and Elie’s exceptional guitar work. Additionally, Mayssa performed with Lebanese producer Zeid Hamdan as part of "Zeid and the Wings" in Cairo and Gouna in 2015, and in Casablanca in 2014. Her recent multi-genre collaborations include “Madina min Baeed” (2022) with electronic musician/producer Khaled Allaf, and “Bi Kheir” and “Fil Aatma” (2022) with indie supergroup Baada Ab, released by Thawra Records
