Mazarati is a funk-rock band formed by Brown Mark, Prince's bassist and protégé, with significant support from Prince himself. The band was signed to Paisley Park/Warner Bros. Records and released their self-titled debut album, co-produced by Brown Mark, Prince, and David Rivkin. Their first single, "100 MPH," reached #19 on the R&B charts. Following the album's release, Mazarati toured with various artists, including Prince, Sheila E., New Edition, and LL Cool J, among others. In 1989, they signed with Motown Records and released a second album, which attracted the attention of producers like Michael Sembello and Bernadette Cooper, while Brown Mark continued to play a key role as a writer and producer. Over the years, band members have collaborated with various musicians, including Paula Abdul and Dr. Fink. Currently, “Mazarati Revisited,” featuring original members OneGunn (aka Marr Starr) and lead guitarist Screamer, aims to revive the band's music and spirit as a tribute to fans worldwide.
