Mazzola, born on April 25, 1950, in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, is a renowned Brazilian producer and engineer. He is the owner of several production companies and has built a reputation over his 30-year career, transforming the "mark of the double Z" (MaZZola) into a quality stamp in Brazilian music. Considered one of Brazil's greatest music producers in the last two decades, Mazzola is known for his artistic and technical contributions to numerous records by iconic artists such as Gal Costa, João Bosco, Milton Nascimento, Ney Matogrosso, Djavan, Gilberto Gil, Chico Buarque, Simone, Raul Seixas, Elis Regina, and Caetano Veloso, among others. Throughout his career, Mazzola's productions have garnered significant acclaim, achieving 73 Gold Records, 43 Platinum, 16 Double Platinum, and 4 Diamond Records, with notable works including "The Rhythm of the Saints" by Paul Simon, "Radio Pirata ao Vivo" by RPM, "Não Chore Mais" by Gilberto Gil, and "Vou de Táxi" by Angélica. It is important to note that Mazzola may be credited as both producer and percussionist on certain releases under the names "Marco Mazzola" or "Mazzola," and he should not be confused with another percussionist or a metal artist with credits from 2016 to 2022.
