Mc Gill Clan was formed in the late 1960s by Tony Mc Gill (bass), Alberto Magnone (organ), Mario Blanco (guitar), Ruben Malán (piano), José Luis Rodríguez (drums), and Adolfo Carbonaro (timbales and congas). The band underwent several lineup changes, later including Tomás “Chocho” Paolini (saxophone and flute), Jimmy (vocals), and Aldo Caviglia (replacing José Luis Rodríguez). Another member was trombonist Pedro Linale. They regularly rehearsed at the Hot Club in Montevideo. In 1969, Mc Gill Clan recorded a couple of singles and a full-length album for the Orfeo label. Their discography continued in 1970 with several more singles for the same label. That year, the group emigrated to Spain, initially trying their luck in Barcelona before settling in Madrid due to limited success. In Madrid, they connected with Pedro Iturralde, which led to four months of concerts at a chain of venues. During one of these performances, they met Sara Montiel, resulting in a series of shows at her dance hall in Mallorca that lasted for eight months. The band ultimately disbanded in 1972, with each member pursuing their own path.
